From 10 to 12 July, we enjoyed a fantastic Group Camp at Skreens Park Activity Centre in Essex, with around 50 young people and volunteers taking part.

Although it was a little further afield than our usual sites, the journey was well worth it. The facilities were excellent, the activities were outstanding, and everyone enjoyed an amazing weekend packed with adventure and fun.

Members from every section of the Group took part, from our youngest Squirrels through to Scouts. We were fortunate to have a large building as our base, with a spacious campsite right alongside it, giving us the best of both worlds throughout the weekend.

The programme was full of exciting activities, including rifle shooting, raft-building, pedal cars, kayaking, canoeing, mini crossbows, parachute drop and pond dipping. The sumo suits proved especially popular, providing plenty of laughter for participants and spectators alike. Even in the heat, we rounded off one evening with a traditional campfire and songs.

The camp would not have been possible without the support of our fantastic volunteers and parent helpers, many of whom gave up their time to help throughout the weekend. A special thank you goes to our superb team of parent chefs, whose excellent catering kept everyone well-fed and ready for adventure.

The smiles, laughter and new experiences shared over the weekend made this year’s Group Camp a huge success, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
